Lois E. Johnson, Council Grove

Lois E. Johnson of Council Grove died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. She was 95.
The daughter of Walter and Florence Wingfield Hylton, she was born March 5, 1912. She married Paul Johnson on Jan. 30, 1931. They lived on a farm south of Council Grove all of their married life.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Big John Thimble Club and Dunlap Pitch Club.
She is survived by one son, Maurice “Sonny” Johnson; two daughters, Alberta “Bert” Horton and Norma Jean Worley; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Her brothers and sisters and one great-granddaughter, Stacy Johnson, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Council Grove Chapel. The Rev. Phillip Nelson will conduct the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Council Grove. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends also may call from 2 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Morris County Senior Citizens Center and sent in care of the funeral home, 137 N. Union St., Council Grove, KS 66846.
