Leota Irene Rogers, Lebo

Leota Irene Rogers of Lebo died Saturday Nov. 17, 2007, at the Sunset Manor in Waverly. She was 93.
Mrs. Rogers was a school teacher in several of the country schools around the Lebo area before her marriage and also had worked in a Lebo grocery store. She taught from 1931 until 1938. After her marriage, she helped on the farm and quilted more than 1200 quilts for other people. She also recorded her family’s history and did extensive genealogies for all of her family.
The daughter of Frank W. and Myrtle Robinson Crawford, she was born Dec. 31, 1913, near Lebo. She married Sylvester L. Rogers on June 29, 1938, at Lebo. He died Feb. 24, 1993.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of the United Methodist Church. She also was a member of Orphah Chapter 140 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Lebo for more than 60 years.
She is survived by two sons, Don D. Rogers and Jim H. Rogers, both of Lebo; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Floyd Crawford, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. The Rev. William Secrest will conduct the service. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery at Lebo. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
