Mabel R. Stone, Emporia

1915 - 2007

Mabel R. Stone died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at the Holiday Resort, where she was a resident. She was 92.
Mrs. Stone worked at Dolly Madison before she retired.
The daughter of Oswin H. and Emma A. Kaiser Walters, she was born June 23, 1915, at Lincolnville.
Mrs. Stone was very active at the Salvation Army. She started the Bread Basket program at the Salvation Army in the 1980s. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
She is survived by one son, LeRoy Stone of Cottonwood Falls; one brother, Herman Walters of Liberty, Mo.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. One daughter, Patsy Whitmore, died earlier. Three brothers, Arnold Walters, George Walters and Albert Walters; and three sisters, Velma Stebbins, Rose Wachter and Elsie Cross, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel. The Rev. Norbert Tegtmeier will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
