Elizabeth Rifenbark Marin, Emporia

1909 - 2007

The memorial service for Elizabeth Rifenbark Marin of Emporia will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Colerick of the First Christian Church will conduct the service. Mrs. Marin was cremated.
Memorial contributions to the Terry Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University in Manhattan may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mrs. Marin died Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Emporia Rehabilitation Center. She was 97.
She worked as a cook for USD 253, first at Lowther Junior High School and later, at Whittier Elementary School. She also was a custom seamstress in Emporia before she retired several years ago.
The daughter of Alfred and Sarah Elizabeth Hansley Rifenbark, she was born Dec. 18, 1909, at Hartford. She married Louis Marin on April 2, 1930, at Burlington. He died July 11, 1975.
Mrs. Marin was a member of the First Christian Church.
She is survived by three sons, Charles A. Marin and Louis J. Marin Jr., both of Emporia, and Robert J. Marin of Wichita; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
