Ruby Amanda Hedman, Chanute

1916 - 2007

Former Admire resident Ruby Amanda Hedman of Chanute died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at the Chanute Healthcare Center. She was 91.
The daughter of Clyde G. and Lesta I. Kipp Fee, she was born April 5, 1916, at Bala. She graduated from Manhattan High School with honors. She lived at Admire from 1946 to 1996 and moved to Chanute in 1999.
She married Clarence “Jim” Hedman on Feb. 14, 1934, at Manhattan. He died in 1987.
Mrs. Hedman was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by one daughter, Lesta I. Swender of Chanute; one sister, Stella Mae Frye of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren, of whom one, Jeannie Hedman Michael, is from Emporia; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A son, Clarence “Jim” Hedman, died earlier.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Admire. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Chanute and sent in care of the funeral home, 16 N. Forest, Chanute, KS 66720.
