William Ivor Brown, Burlington
1934 - 2007
William Ivor “W.I” Brown of Burlington and formerly of St. Joseph, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 29, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. He was 73.
Mr. Brown was a field agent for the Internal Revenue Service in St. Joseph, Mo., before he retired in 1987. After his retirement, he did private tax consulting for several years. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
The son of Francis Ivor and Theresa “Polly” Trimble Brown, he was born Sept. 20, 1934, in St. Joseph, Mo., where he grew up and graduated from Lafayette High School. After his military service, he graduated from Tulsa University with a degree in accounting.
He married Nancy Brown. She died in 1980. He married Frankielee Foster Crisp on Oct. 9, 1984, at Branson, Mo. She survives. They moved to Burlington in May 2007.
Mr. Brown was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He is also survived by one son, Wade Brown of Colorado; one daughter, LaVon Brown of Baltimore, Md.; two stepdaughters, Jerilee Trostle of LeRoy and Caren Dick of Topeka; one stepson, Scott Crisp of Overland Park; one brother, George Brown of Casper, Wyo.; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Brown donated his body to the University of Kansas Medical Center for research. The service to celebrate his life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
