Elmer W. Burnett, Melvern

Elmer W. Burnett died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at his home in Melvern. He was 88.
Mr. Burnett, who lived in the Melvern community for most of his life, also farmed in the Melvern area for most of his life.
The son of Sydney Grover and Clara Mae Wiggins Burnett, he was born March 30, 1919, in Council Grove. He married Mary Ruth Patterson on July 22, 1944, in Council Grove. She died Oct. 23, 2005.
Mr. Burnett is survived by three sons, Larry W. Burnett of Melvern, Elmer E. Burnett of Topeka and Terry L. Burnett of Overbrook; two sisters, Flossie Duffey and Beulah Brown, both of Osage City; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A brother, Grover Burnett, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Melvern United Methodist Church in Melvern. The family will meet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
