Doris Louise Ray Dorsey McCallum

Former Strong City resident Doris Louise Dorsey McCallum of Penny Farms, Fla., died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Penny Farms. She was 83.
Mrs. McCallum and her first husband, Robert Dorsey, lived at Englewood until 1966, when they moved to Strong City. She was secretary at the high school in Strong City in 1968 and 1969. From 1969 to 1976, she worked for Farm Bureau Insurance in Cottonwood Falls. She transferred to Penny Farms, Fla., retired in 1988 and worked for Beverly Enterprises. Earlier, she worked for Trans World Airlines from 1942 to 1952.
The daughter of Albert Olin and Florence Thomas Ray, she was born March 4, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo. She graduated from East High School in Kansas City, Mo., in 1942. She married Robert Cobb Dorsey in 1952. He died earlier. She married John McCallum in 1992 at Penny Farms, Fla. He died earlier.
Mrs. McCallum was a member of the National Honor Society and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by three sons, Rex Dorsey of Emporia, Vincent Scott Dorsey of Dodge City and Dan Dorsey of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Crandall of Grain Valley, Mo., and Lois Niswonger of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Charles Ray, died earlier.
The time and place of services will be announced.
