Wanda L. Martin

The Mass of Christian Burial for Wanda L. Gray Martin will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Darren Henson will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, after which the family will meet friends.
Memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Catholic School may be sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mrs. Martin died Monday, May 21, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. She was 75.
She worked in Chase County schools from 1983 until 2003. She and her husband, Leo, lived in California, New Mexico and Maryland. They moved to Cottonwood Falls in 1983 when her husband retired and to Emporia in 2003.
The daughter of James and Katherine Schwegmann Gray, she was born July 9, 1931, at Wichita. She married Leo R. Martin on July 30, 1955, at Wichita. He survives.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Other survivors include one son, Paul Martin of Emporia; four daughters, Cathy Wright of Emporia, Cindy Rubick of Williamsburg, Becky Black of Bowie, Md., and Diana Sweeney of Hanover, Pa.; one brother, Robert Gray of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Donna Starbird of Afton, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A sister, Lois Mileham, died earlier.

Wanda L. Martin graduated from Wichita State University. This information was not given in the obituary published Wednesday.
