Carl Fredrick Petersen
Carl Fredrick Petersen, 2027 Belmont Drive, died Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. He was 72.
Mr. Petersen was a security guard for the College of Emporia during the 1960s; worked for Rainbo Bakery 11 years; Dolly Madison Bakery, 11 years; Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, 18 years; and was a bus driver for USD 253 for five years. He retired 12 years ago.
The son of Fredrick C. and Oline C. Andersen Petersen, he was born June 10, 1934, at Emporia. He married Anna Mae Peak and they were later divorced. She survives.
Mr. Petersen was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the National Rifle Association, the H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Memorial Fund, the Humane Society of the Flint Hills and the Emporia Friends of the Zoo.
He is also survived by two sons, Jeffrey K. Petersen of Emporia and Ronnie F. Petersen of Waverly; one daughter, Christina Briggs of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Shari Egan; two sisters, Alva Taylor and Della Price; one brother, Earl Petersen; and a granddaughter, Lenise Petersen, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Norbert Tegtmeier of the Messiah Lutheran Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Neosho Rapids.
