Stephen Kent Huggard, Waverly

Former Emporian Stephen Kent Huggard, 58, died April 8, 2007, in Tucson, Ariz.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 27, in the Hull-Cromwell American Legion Post 119 in Waverly. The memorial service was held in Tucson on April 12.
Stephen Kent Huggard, the son of John and Nadine Huggard, was born July 28, 1948, at Flagler, Colo. He moved with his family to Waverly in 1952. He attended Emporia State University and later graduated from the electricity/electronics program at the Flint Hills Area Vocational-Technical School. He taught that subject at the school for a time.
Mr. Huggard had worked at Dolly Madison Bakery and had owned and operated Huggard Auto Parts store in Waverly. He also had worked at Didde-Graphics before moving to Flagstaff, Ariz., where he worked in several management positions in Northern Arizona University. He later worked as central plant manager at the University of Arizona. Mr. Huggard had served in the Kansas Army National Guard.
He married Sharon Kay Wiggers on June 14, 1969, in Emporia. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include his mother of Waverly; two sons, Bret Huggard of Kettering, Ohio, and Ryan Huggard of Flagstaff; three grandsons and one granddaughter; four brothers, Jack Huggard of Minneola, Jim Huggard of Stafford, Robert Huggard of Los Alamos, N.M., and Roger Huggard of Ephrata, Pa.
