Eulah Hall Rigsby, Ottawa

Longtime Olpe resident Eulah Hall Rigsby died Monday, May 7, 2007, in Ottawa. She was 100.
A funeral Mass planned for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Olpe, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday and a visitation will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Visitation is also planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rigsby will be cremated after the service. Burial, at a later date, will be in Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia.
Eulah Dorene Rigsby was born on Aug. 5, 1906, in Hunter, Ark., the daughter of Wallace and Laura Belle Enyeart Hall. She was a graduate of Tulsa Business College, Tulsa, Okla.
She married William E. Rigsby on April 18, 1930. He died June 5, 1972.
Mrs. Rigsby, a homemaker, worked in the late 1940s as a meat cutter for Steffes Meat Locker in Olpe. For 15 years in the 1960s and ’70s, she was secretary and office manager for the Lyon County Farm Bureau. She moved to Ottawa in 2004.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, and its altar society. Additionally, she was a past matron and 50-year member of Miriam Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Her other memberships included the Republican Women, Cosmopolitan Study Club, Kansas Cowbelles, Royal Neighbors of America, American Legion Auxiliary, Floralore Garden Club, Flying Needles and Happy Homemakers. She was a co-author of the Olpe Heritage Book.
Contributions in Mrs. Rigsby’s memory to St. Joseph School or Olpe Methodist Church may be sent in care of the funeral home, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa, KS 66067. Condolences to the family may be e-mailed to dengelmortuary@sbcglobal.net.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening for life-long Olpe resident Eulah Dorene Rigsby, who died May 7, 2007, in Ottawa. The rosary, and a visitation at 7:30 p.m., will be in the St. Joseph Church in Olpe.
The funeral mass, also at St. Joseph Church in Olpe, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Friends also may call Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, which is in charge of arrangements. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary in Ottawa.
Cremation will follow, with inurnment later in Maplewood-Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia.
