Floyd Schrooten
Floyd Schrooten died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at at the Emporia Rehabilitation Center, where he was a resident. He was 75.
Mr. Schrooten worked at Emporia Wholesale Coffee Company and then was a truck driver for Dolly Madison Bakery in Emporia. He was a Navy veteran, having served in Korea and Guam.
The son of Floyd and Delia Pryor Schrooten, he was born March 6, 1932, at Harveyville. He married Beverly Ann Newsome on May 22, 1954, at Osage City. She died May 1, 2004, at Emporia.
Mr. Schrooten was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Emporia Memorial Post 7597 and the Old Time Fiddlers and Pickers.
He is survived by two sons, Kevin Schrooten and Brian Schrooten, both of Emporia, and Michael Schrooten of Topeka; one daughter, Debbie Ernst of Pocatello, Idaho; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Sorsen of the First Presbyterian Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Wilmington Cemetery at Wilmington.
