Marie A. Dieker
Marie A. Dieker died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor, where she was a resident. She was 85.
Mrs. Dieker, a homemaker, worked in Topeka two years after high school graduation and then worked at the Westphalia Grocery Store. She helped her husband, Clarence Dieker, at their Phillips 66 Station for 10 years. After returning from the farm to Garnett in 1980, she drove a school bus for several years. She moved to Emporia in December 2005.
The daughter of John P. and Theresa M. Stahl Frisch, she was born Sept. 5, 1921, at Westphalia. She married Clarence C. Dieker on Feb. 5, 1940, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia. He died July 11, 2003, at Burlington.
Mrs. Dieker was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Rolf of Emporia; two sons, Glenn Dieker of Lawrence and Jerry Dieker of Lancaster, Pa.; one sister, Marguerite Frisch Weinmann of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers, Francis “Frank” Frisch of Wichita and Gerald Frisch of Sunnyvale, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A sister, Irene Frisch Dieker; and a great-grandson, Matthew Wolever, died earlier.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Tim Haberkorn will be the celebrant. The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Teresa Catholic Cemetery in Westphalia. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church.
