Harold Raymond Davidson, Burlingtion
Harold Raymond Davidson of Burlington died Friday, March 23, 2007, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. He was 81.
Mr. Davidson worked for the Katy Railroad for 10 years. He then worked in construction, working on the building of John Redmond Reservoir and the Coffey County Hospital, along with other projects. He last worked for the Burlington street department before he retired in 1987. He was well known for his yard art, especially his waving gorillas.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, honorably discharged because of injuries.
The son of John and Effie Makepeace Davidson, he was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Halls Summit. He married Kathryn Springeman on Nov. 4, 1947, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Burlington. She survives.
Mr. Davidson was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He also was a member of Union Local 142.
He is also survived by two daughters, Marilyn Davidson of Burlington and Susan Hatch of Yates Center; one son, Mark Davidson of Burlington; two brothers, his twin, Howard Davidson of Burlington, and Ralph Davidson Jr. of Colorado; four sisters, Alice Lawson of Wichita, Darlen Perry of Farmington, Mo., Vera McGlothlin of the state of Washington and May Bell Mooney of Independence, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A brother, Sylvester Makepeace; a sister, Vivian Pratt; and a grandson, Alex Todd, died earlier.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Burlington. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Burlington. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
