Donald Lee Buck, Blue Springs, Mo.
Emporia native Donald Lee Buck, 71, of Blue Springs, Mo., died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City. He had been livng in Richmond, Mo., since 2003.
Mr. Buck was born March 15, 1936, in Emporia to Eddie Icabod and Laverna Joelma Johnson Buck. He married Alberta L. Boes of Olpe on Nov. 14, 1959. They lived in Emporia until in 1967, when they moved to Blue Springs. His wife died on May 9, 1994.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Buck of Independence, Mo., James Buck of Kansas City, Mo., and John Buck of Blue Springs; five daughters, Stephanie Clymens of Portland, Ore., Amy List of Orrick, Mo., Jenny Marshall of Blue Springs, Sara Buck-Williams of Grain Valley, Mo., and Christine Weaver of Odessa, Mo.; and sixteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Joelma Friend, and one grandson, Alexander Clymens.
Mr. Buck was a graduate of Emporia High School. He received his associate degree in business from Emporia State University. He received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps.
Mr. Buck worked as a purchasing agent and for various Kansas City corporations.
He was a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church in Blue Springs.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Society.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 p.m. Sunday at Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main St., Richmond, Mo. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Graveside services with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
