Charles A. Loney, Reading
Charles A. Loney of Reading died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Colmery O’Neil Veterans Administration Medical Center in Topeka. He was 84.
Mr. Loney was a carpenter and maintenance worker in the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Lawrence before he retired.
The son of Wyatt LeRoy and Velma Leola Cox Loney, he was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Akron, Colo. He married Darlene Weddle. They were divorced.
Mr. Loney attended the Baptist Church in Reading. He was a member of American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 in Emporia.
He is survived by one son, Rod Loney of Reading; one sister, Nina Alexander of Emporia; one brother, Dale Loney of Lakewood, Colo.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The graveside service, with military honors provided by the Honor Guard from Fort Riley, was March 15, 2007, at Reading Cemetery.
