Joseph Robert Moore

Joseph Robert Moore of Emporia died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Colmery-O’Neil Veterans Administration Medical Center in Topeka. He was 69.
Mr. Moore was a truck driver before he retired. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
The son of Robert and Helen Wimer Moore, he was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Ashland. He was married and divorced.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Veterans of the Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980 and American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5.
He is survived by three sons, Lester Moore of Chatsworth, Ga., Shawn Moore of St. Cloud, Minn., and Ryan Moore of Rice, Minn.; one daughter, Cynthia Dillard of Chatsworth, Ga.; one stepson, Marvin Beavers of Crandall, Ga.; two sisters, Ethel Carter of Emporia and Sue Davis of Bucklin; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his companion, Barbara Gilkenson of Emporia. A stepdaughter, Janelle Moore; his stepfather, Elmo Lake; and a sister, Roberta Whitt, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Life Church. The Rev. Tony Lantz of the church will conduct the service. The burial service, with military honors provided by VFW Post 1980 and American Legion Post 5, will be at the Patio Garden of Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Charter Funerals - Emporia Chapel.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Ethel Carter and sent in care of the funeral home, 501 W. Sixth Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
