Edna M. Behnke

Edna M. Behnke died Friday, March 16, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. She was 85.
Mrs. Behnke was a clerk at Kansas Power and Light and Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. She moved to Emporia in 2003 and previously lived at Hutchinson and Kinsley.
The daughter of Edward and Mary Burk Boyd, she was born April 18, 1921, at Fowler. She married Gilbert Behnke in 1940 at Kinsley. He died earlier.
Mrs. Behnke was a member of the United Methodist Women, Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and KPL Retirees.
She is survived by one daughter, Jan McClendon of Emporia; one son, Keith Behnke of Manhattan; one sister, Irene Wakefield of Valdosta, Ga.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. One son, Kenneth Behnke; one brother, Clyde “Pete” Boyd; and one sister, Verna Erhart, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. The graveside service will be at 3 p.m. in Hillside Cemetery at Kinsley.
