George E. Bachman

George E. Bachman of Emporia died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. He was 92.
Services are pending at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.

The funeral for George Eugene Bachman will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Colerick and LeRoy Garnett will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Soden’s Grove Little Train restoration project or the Newman Hospital Auxiliary and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Bachman, a resident of the Emporia Rehabilitation Center and formerly of 2955 W. 24th Ave., died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. He was 92.
Mr. Bachman worked for Wal-Mart from 1983 to 1992 and, previously, for Seacat Brothers and S & S Kitchens. From 1940 to 1951, he worked for the Elk Valley Alfalfa Mills; for Meadow Gold Dairy from 1951 to 1962; and Tone Brothers Spice Company from 1962 until Jan. 1, 1977. He moved from Fredonia to Emporia on March 29, 1949.
The son of William and Goldie Hixon Bachman, he was born March 24, 1914, on the family farm near Vilas in Wilson County. He attended grade schools in several rural schools and graduated from high school in Altoona. He married N. Irene Steeves on Aug. 26, 1936, at Thayer and they lived on a farm for a year before they moved to Fredonia in 1938. She died Jan. 3, 2003.
Mr. Bachman was a member of the First Christian Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Treva Stuck of Emporia; four grandchildren, Shannon Stuck of Emporia, Sean Stuck of Neosho Rapids, Raymond Lemon of Lebo and Katherine Keller of Siloam Springs, Ark.; and 12 great-grandchildren.
