Frances Ellen Shepherd

Frances Ellen Shepherd, formerly of Hamilton and Eureka, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia. She was 88.
Mrs. Shepherd was cremated, with no services planned. She will be inurned in Janesville Cemetery near Hamilton at a later date.
Mrs. Shepherd and her husband, James “Bud,” owned and operated the Bud Shepherd Tank Service, of which she was the bookkeeper. In 1984, they moved to Eureka to race their horses at Eureka Downs. She also was a homemaker.
The daughter of Nicholas B. and Martha Elizabeth Henderson Morris, she was born Feb. 3, 1919, at Westville, Okla. She married James Ober “Bud” Shepherd on Dec. 22, 1936, at Eureka. He died April 10, 1990.
Mrs. shepherd is survived by three sisters, Juanite Bittel of Kansas City, Kan., Mildred Conradi of Vida, Ore., and Nan Goforth of Linn Creek, Mo.; and a grandson and her caretaker, Brad Shepherd of Houston, Texas. A son, Jimmie Shepherd; and two brothers, Nick Morris and Bob Morris, died earlier.
Memorial contributions to Hand in Hand Hospice may be sent in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
