Jeanette J. Waid, New Strawn
Jeanette J. Waid of New Strawn died Friday, March 9, 2007, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. She was 83.
Mrs. Waid worked for Aircraft Consolidated and Pepsi Cola.
The daughter of James Edgar and Hilda Marie Swenson Thompson, she was born May 12, 1923, at Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up with her uncle and aunt, Fred and Celia Swenson, near Waverly where she attended the Sunnyside Rural School and Waverly High School. She attended San Diego State College for one year.
She married Kenneth A. Waid on June 30, 1956, at San Diego, Calif. He died Sept. 18, 2000.
Mrs. Waid is survived by one stepson, Robert Waid of Colorado; and one sister, Dorothy Williams of San Diego, Calif. Three brothers, Narvis Thompson, James Thompson and William Hale Thompson, died earlier.
The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Glendale Cemetery, northeast of Burlington. The family will meet friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
