Marilyn R. Ray

The graveside service for former Madison resident Marilyn R. Ray, 320 Garfield St., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Blakely Cemetery, northwest of Madison. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Wilson Funeral Home in Madison.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 488, Madison, KS 66860.
Mrs. Ray died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was 74.
She was deli manager for Reeble’s grocery before she retired. She also raised and raced quarter horses for 20 years or more and was an artist. She lived in Madison from 1932 until 1951 when she moved to Emporia and lived on a small farm southwest of Emporia.
The daughter of Virgil and Bernice Ronk Armstrong, she was born April 8, 1932, at Emporia. She married L. Norman Ray on March 3, 1949, at Madison. He died March 23, 1980.
Mrs. Ray is survived by one son, Brian Ray of Emporia; one daughter, Jennifer Caskey of Topeka; three sisters, Donna O’Neal of Madison, Louise Ryan of Woodlawn, Calif., and Linda Loomer of Gainesville, Mo.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Three brothers and seven sisters died earlier.
