Elizabeth “Betty” Boylan

The memorial service for Elizabeth “Betty” Boylan, a resident of Alterra Sterling House, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Machpelah Cemetery at LeRoy, N.Y. Mrs. Boylan was cremated.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Emporia Public Library and sent in care of the funeral home, 501 W. Sixth Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
Mrs. Boylan died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 92.
She was a teacher.
The daughter of Charles and Alice Pfifferlins Eldridge, she was born Jan. 19, 1915, at Marilla, N.Y. She married Laurence Boylan on April 20, 1946, at Dansville, N.Y. He died earlier.
Mrs. Boylan was a charter and life member of the Newman Hospital Auxiliary and a charter member of the Friends of the Library. She was awarded the Super Friend of the Library award from the Friends of the Library in April 2001. She also was a member of the KSTC Faculty Wives.
She is survived by four nephews, including David Eldridge of Emporia. Two brothers, William Eldridge and Carl Eldridge; and three sisters, Alice Eldridge, Edith Eldridge and Frances Guest, died earlier.
