Jacob Roy Wambsganss, Fordville, N.D.

Former rural Elmdale resident Jacob Roy “Dr. Jake” Wambsganss died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, in his home at Fordville, N.D. He was 56.
Mr. Wambsganss worked for 15 years at the University of North Dakota, where he was a full professor, master of business administration director and master of accountancy director. He published many articles and recently published a book, “Management Accounting for Effective Decision Making.”
The son of Eldor Jacob and Maxine Wait Wambsganss, he was born Nov. 9, 1950, at Hillsboro. He grew up and attended schools in Kansas and graduated from Wichita State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia with a master’s degree and the University of Nebraska with a doctorate.
He married Dona Koby on May 22, 1971, at Bentley. She survives.
Mr. Wambsganss is also survived by two sons, Warren Wambsganss of VanHorne, Iowa, and Jay Wambsganss of Grand Forks, N.D.; his mother, formerly of rural Elmdale and now of Silver City, Iowa; and one sister, Tilda Wambsganss of Silver City. His father died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Christus Rex Lutheran Campus Ministries on the UND campus. A service to celebrate his life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Strong City. The Revs. David Parks and Dennis Koch will conduct the service. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery, west of Elmdale. The family will meet friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
