Former Emporia resident Martha Haynes died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Bella Vista, Ark. She was 92.
Mrs. Haynes was a homemaker and a retired dental assistant. In Emporia, she lived at the Horizon Plaza from 1989 to 2004, when she moved to Bella Vista.
The daughter of Marvin A. and Nola Williams Flippen, she was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Obion County, Tenn. She married John Reece Haynes on Sept. 14, 1934. He died earlier.
Mrs. Haynes is survived by two daughters, Janie Lee Koonce of Bella Vista, Ark., and Reecelyn Ann Watkins of Citrus Springs, Fla.; two sons, John David Haynes of Wichita and James Lynn Haynes of Liberty, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
One sister, Avis Marshall, died earlier, as did four brothers, Elwood Flippen, Wayman Flippen, Emmeritt Flippen and Jim Flippen and two grandchildren, James Richard Watkins and Laura Lynn Watkins.
The graveside service was held June 23 in the Obion County Memorial Gardens in Tennessee.
The White-Ranson Funeral Home in Union City, Tenn., had the arrangements.
