Allison M. Velasquez, Reading

Allison M. Velasquez of Reading died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at her brother’s home in Reading. She was 46 and had pancreatic cancer.
Miss Velasquez was a Christian educator for Silent Blessings Ministries in Indianapolis, Ind., where she worked with deaf children. She also created silk floral arrangements for wedding and interior decoration, did craft projects for children and wrote Christian poetry. She moved to Reading in February 2006.
The daughter of Harold Arthur and Lillian Marie Duwe Velasquez, she was born Dec. 5, 1960, in Topeka. She graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1979 and attended Emporia State University. She lived in Wichita, Kaua’i, Hawaii, Kansas City, Emporia, Lindsborg and Pendleton, Ind.
Miss Velasquez was a member of the Rock Church Assembly of God in Pendleton, Ind., and attended Victory Fellowship Foursquare Church in Emporia.
She is survived by her parents of Berryton; three brothers, Brian D. Velasquez of Reading, Jonathan L. Velasquez of Olathe and Christian A. Velasquez of Midland, Mich.; and a sister, Elizabeth A. McCray of Des Moines, Iowa.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Victory Fellowship Foursquare Church. The graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Freeport Cemetery in Freeport. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
