Valeria B. Fatzlaff, Burlinton

BURLINGTON
Valeria B. Ratzlaff of Burlington died Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Life Care Center of Burlington. She was 87.
Mrs. Ratzlaff worked at Hoover’s Thriftway in Burlington and earlier, helped her husband, John, farm east of Burlington.
The daughter of John William and Zelma Francis White Gordon, she was born Jan. 5, 1920, in Burrton. The family moved to Hutchinson, where she graduated from high school in 1937.
She married John Fritz Ratzlaff on July 28, 1939, in Moundridge. In 1949, they moved to a farm east of Burlington, where they lived until Mr. Ratzlaff died on April 9, 1994. She then moved to Burlington.
Mrs. Ratzlaff was a member of the Scott Valley Church of Brethren after she moved to Coffey County. Earlier, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Hutchinson.
She is survived by a son, Gary Ratzlaff of Burlington; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A son, Richard Ratzlaff, died Aug. 26, 2001. A sister, Barbara Howland, also died earlier.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will be at Stringtown Cemetery, northeast of Burlington.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Hospital Burn Unit and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
