Genevieve Lopshire Rouse, Lebo

The funeral for Genevieve Rouse of Lebo, formerly of Solomon, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon. Burial will be in Prairie Mound Cemetery at Solomon. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.
Memorial contributions to the Solomon United Methodist Church may be sent in care of the Solomon funeral home, 208 W. 4th St., Solomon, KS 67480-9737.
Mrs. Rouse died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at her home in Lebo. She was 90.
She was a seamstress for many years, making wedding dresses and specialty clothing. She sewed at His and Her Shoppe and Wardens in Salina. She spent most of her life in the Salina area before she returned to Solomon in 1982. She continued to sew for her customers until she moved to Lebo in 2001.
The daughter of John and Mamie Quested Lopshire, she was born Aug. 21, 1916, at Salina. She married Carl A. Rouse on April 8, 1939, at Salina. He died earlier.
Mrs. Rouse was a member of the Solomon Methodist Church, where she was active in tape ministry.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Birnbaum of Lebo; a son, Dennis Rouse of Topeka; a sister, Marguerite Franklin of Camp Verda, Ariz; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. A daughter, Phyllis Davis; a son, Darrell Rouse; two half sisters, Irene Erickson and Grace Smith; two brothers, Ray Lopshire and Roy Lopshire; and a halfbrother, Lawrence Peterson, died earlier.
