Bernice Imogene Urquhart Ryno
The funeral for Bernice Imogene Urquhart Ryno will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. John Davis of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or Emporia Friends of the Zoo and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mrs. Ryno died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at the Holiday Resort care center.
She and her first husband, George W. Urquhart, owned and operated Urquhart Drug Store for 35 years before they sold the store in 1967.
The daughter of John and Estella Pease Watkin, she was born Sept. 1, 1914, at Emporia. She married George W. Urquhart on Sept. 17, 1939, at Wichita. He died Nov. 1, 1977. She married Roy Ryno on Nov. 9, 1985, at Council Grove. He died Nov. 28, 1985.
Mrs. Ryno was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She also was a member of the social Order of Beauceant and Miriam Chapter 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sons, James Urquhart of Silver Lake and John Urquhart of
Boise, Idaho; two stepsons, Ronald Ryno and Jeffrey Ryno, both of Garland; one stepdaughter, Linda Gattis of Sadler, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. A brother, Tom Watkin; and a grandson died earlier.
