Herbert Earl “Bud” Morgan Sr.

Herbert Earl “Bud” Morgan Sr., a longtime resident of Emporia died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. He was 82.
Mr. Morgan was a salesman for the Fanestil Meat company for 43 years before he retired 21 years ago. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the 8th Infantry Division.
The son of Raleigh “R.T.” and Violet Florence Martin Morgan, he was born May 17, 1925, in Emporia. He married Mary “Betty” Jones on July 31, 1943, in Emporia. She survives.
Mr. Morgan was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. He belonged to American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5, Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980 and Emporia Masonic Lodge 12, A.F. & A.M.
He is also survived by two daughters, Gayle Elaine Brown of Emporia and Kayla Ellen McKinzie of Manhattan; two sons, Russell Everett Morgan of Wichita and Herbert Earl Morgan Jr., of Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Carl Walter Morgan of Skytook, Okla.; one sister, Emma Ellen Yeager of Broadwater, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A son, Larry Morgan, died earlier, as did two brothers, Marvin Wayne Morgan and Kenneth Lee Morgan.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mic McGuire of the church will conduct the service. Burial, with services by American Legion Post 5, will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
