Marjorie Morse Sullivan
BLOOMINGTON, IND.
A memorial reception for former Emporian Marjorie Morse Sullivan, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Congregational Church. Mrs. Sullivan, 92, died Nov. 27, 2006, at her home in Bloomington, Ind.
She was born Jan. 7, 1914, in Emporia. Her great-grandparents, Grosvenor and Abigail Morse, arrived in Emporia in 1857 and were among founders of the Normal School and the Congregational Church. She graduated from Emporia High School, where she later taught English. She attended Kansas State Teachers College, where she earned two master’s degrees and taught in the library school.
She married Jay Sullivan, who was judge of the Fifth Judicial District in Emporia for 30 years. He died earlier.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick Sullivan and Michael Sullivan, and two grandchildren.
Her brother, Park Morse of Walnut Creek, Calif died earlier.
