Jean Elaine McCullough
Jean Elaine McCullough, 1615 Donelson Drive, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. She was 79.
Mrs. McCullough was supervisor for the Lyon County Motor Vehicles Department for 10 years and later, a receptionist for Dr. Charles Underwood before she retired Sept. 25, 1987.
The daughter of Clyde Owen and Florence Bigler Grieder, she was born July 13, 1927, in Olpe. She married G. Wayne McCullough on Dec. 31, 1947, at Emporia. He died Jan. 5, 2006.
Mrs. McCullough was a member of the auxiliaries to Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980, American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and Eagles Aerie 2587.
She is survived by two sons, David W. McCullough of Emporia and Marion “Dutch” McCullough of La Feria, Texas; four daughters, Lisa A. Gurney of Emporia, Linda K. Wood and Sandra S. Weeks, both of Topeka, and Janis Ralston of Platte Woods, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, including Sarah Wood, Nicole Weeks Anderson, Michelle Weeks Barnett, Shawn Weeks, Eli McCullough and Julia McCullough, all of Emporia; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A son, James Robert McCullough, died earlier, as did a granddaughter, Danielle Weeks, and two grandsons, Ezra McCullough and Randy McCullough.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Lee Hoskins will conduct the service. Mrs. McCullough will be cremated after the funeral service. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at a later date. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
