Mary Alice Higgins Smith, Pratt

Mary Alice Higgins Smith of Emporia and formerly of Pratt died Thursday, May 31, 2007. She had lung cancer for the past three years. She was 65.
Mrs. Smith was a secretary and real estate associate for the Scott and Hodges Company in Pratt before she retired.
The daughter of J. Terry and Fern Pierce Higgins, she was born Aug. 9, 1941, at Wichita. She married Ron Smith on Dec. 28, 1963. He survives. They moved from Pratt to Emporia about three years ago.
Mrs. Smith is also survived by two daughters, Angela Spellman of Emporia and Robin Van Hove of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Louise Pumphrey of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Terry Higgins of Nashville, Tenn., and Mickey Higgins of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Her parents died earlier.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pratt. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt. The vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Larrison Mortuary in Pratt.
Memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund at Pratt, the Pratt Public School Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice may be sent in care of the funeral home, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS 67124-3149.
