Merl M. Beemer, Fort Dodge

Merl M. Beemer of Fort Dodge died Monday, July 23, 2007, at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City. He was 85.
Mr. Beemer was the owner and operator of Security Design and Control in Hutchinson and Dodge City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic and was involved in the invasion of the beaches of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge in the European Theater.
He married Dorothy Peterson of Emporia on July 18, 1943, at Emporia. She survives.
Mr. Beemer is also survived by one son; two daughters; one brother; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Burkhart Ziegler Funeral Chapel in Dodge City. Burial, with military honors conducted by VFW Post 1714, will be in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Dodge.
