Marie Ida Bratton, Emporia

Marie Ida Bratton of Emporia died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. She was 92.
Mrs. Bratton was a homemaker.
The daughter of Carl Edward and Nora Robinson Nelson, she was born Oct. 11, 1914, at Allen. She grew up on the family farms in Lyon and Morris counties and graduated from local schools.
She married Loren Bratton on Aug. 23, 1937, at Toronto. He died Nov. 17, 1988.
Mrs. Bratton was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Emporia. She also was a member of the Bridge Club of Eureka.
She is survived by one brother, Floyd O. Nelson of Salina; and one sister, Anna Brown of Moline. Four brothers and three sisters died earlier.
The graveside service was today at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka. The Rev. Nancy Gammill of the First United Methodist Church of Emporia conducted the service.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the National Osteoporosis Foundation or the American Heart Association, and sent in care of the Koup Family Funeral Home, 121 N. Oak St., P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045.
