Edward G. Bruske, Topeka
Edward G. Bruske, retired president and chief executive officer of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, died Monday, July 16, 2007, at his home in Topeka. He was 72.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor “Ellie” Gorman, formerly of Emporia.
Mr. Bruske also had been secretary of economic development for Gov. Robert Bennett after he returned to Topeka in 1975. Mr. Bruske had been acting planning director for the city of Topeka in the late 1950s and became economic industrial director of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce. He also designed the city’s crest. He was director and general manager of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and later directed land use planning for Chevron Land and Development Company. He also had been president of the Kansas City, Mo., Corporation for Industrial Development.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kevin Brennan Funeral Home in Topeka, after which the family will meet friends until 8 p.m.
