Jeanne Foster Stacy, Tacoma
Former Emporian Jeanne Foster Stacy died Thursday, June 12, 2007, at Tacoma, Wash. She was 78.
Mrs. Stacy taught junior high school speech and drama in Kansas City and later was a school counselor. After retirement, she and her husband, Jack, began a career as actors and models in commercials and print media. She moved to Tacoma to be near her children.
The daughter of Fountain “Pappy” and Luella May Foster, she was born Oct. 12, 1928 at Humboldt. She grew up in Emporia, graduated from Emporia High School and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia with a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in school counseling, graduating summa cum laude.
Mrs. Stacy is survived by her husband of Tacoma; two sons, Jim Thoburn and John Thoburn of Washington State; a sister, Glennis Wilmore of Emporia; and six grandchildren. A daughter, Jean Marie Smith; six sisters, former Emporia residents, Nellie Franklin, Lucile Koppers, Helen Lewis, Pauline Freeman, Florence Ratliff and Trudy Hayes; and one brother, also a former Emporia resident, William “Bud” Foster, died earlier.
The memorial service was held Friday at Mount Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo.
