Calvin Briggs, Carbondale

Calvin “Buster” Briggs died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at his home in Carbondale. He was 69.
Mr. Briggs was a truck driver for Lapeka, Mobil Oil Delivery and currently, Meier’s Ready Mix, all of Topeka.
The son of Joseph and Estella Black Briggs, he was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Carbondale. He graduated from Carbondale High School.
He married Linda Schooler. They were divorced. He married Mary Ann Fidler on Dec. 31, 1969, at Topeka. She survives.
Mr. Briggs is also survived by two daughters, Janice Lorzen and Debbie Breshears, both of Texas; two sons, Terry Briggs and Tony Briggs, both of Texas; a brother, Dean Briggs of Scranton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A sister, Barbara Sweetman of Emporia, died earlier.
The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Carey Funeral Home in Burlingame. Friends also may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Briggs will be cremated, with inurnment in the Fidler-Fowler Family Cemetery, north of McClouth.
