Robert J. ‘Bob’ Carter, Toledo Township
The graveside service for Robert J. “Bob” Carter will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hillside Cemetery at Toledo Township. The Rev. Don Barb of the United Methodist churches of Hartford and Neosho Rapids will conduct the service. The family will meet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls.

Mr. Carter died Friday, July 6, 2007, at his home in Toledo Township. He was 76.
He was a longtime farmer and farmed until his death. He also worked at Bunge Soybean Mill for many years, retiring as supervisor in 1996. Earlier, he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
The son of Ronald J. and Jessie Applegate Carter, he was born March 29, 1931, at the family home south of Tampa, Kan. He moved with his family to their farm home near Saffordville in 1943. He graduated from Toledo Township High School in 1949.
He married Joanne Sansom on June 15, 1952, at Emporia. She survives.
Mr. Carter is also survived by one daughter, Lorraine Klumpe of Olpe; a sister, Joan Martin of Wellington; and a grandson, Bryce Klumpe of Emporia. A son, David Carter, died Sept. 11, 2001.
