Leroy Edward ‘Roy’ Thomas
The funeral for Leroy Edward “Roy” Thomas will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Emporia Friends of the Zoo or Church of Christ may be sent in care of the funeral home, 501 W. Sixth Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Thomas died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at the Flint Hills Care Center. He was 91.
He farmed in the Allen, Bushong and Americus areas for most of life and also was an inventory clerk at Didde Glaser.
The son of Joseph E. and Louisa Shores Thomas, he was born June 21, 1916, in Allen. He married Doris Henderson on April 22, 1942, at Emporia. She survives.
Mr. Thomas is also survived by one son, Russell Thomas of Ottawa; one sister, Dolly Givens of Emporia; and two grandsons.
An infant son, Darrell E. Thomas, died earlier, as did three brothers, William M. Thomas, Charles Thomas Sr. and Walter Thomas, and four sisters, Bertha Corpening, Laura Jackson, Anna Davies and Inez Morris.
