Lois Betheen McGlinnn, Topeka
Former Emporian Lois Batheen McGlinn died Monday, July 2, 2007, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. She was 87.
Mrs. McGlinn lived in Emporia for 52 years, where she worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone and Hallmark Cards. She worked at J.C. Penney in Emporia and Topeka.
The daughter of Earnest and Lillian Ericsson Turner, she was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Saffordville. She graduated from Emporia High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.
She married Mathew J. McGlinn Jr. on Dec. 9, 1943, at Emporia. He survives.
Mrs. McGlinn was a Cub Scout leader.
She is also survived by two sons, Jeffery Douglas McGlinn of Lawrence and Richard James McGlinn Jr., of Winslow, Ariz.; one daughter, Bonnie Anderson of Overland Park; a brother, Kenneth Standau of Wichita; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A brother, Earnest Turner, died earlier.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Topeka. The parish rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, after which the family will meet friends until service time.
