Edith May Schumann

Edith May Schumann, mother of Gerald Schumann of Emporia died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at the Holiday Resort where she was a resident. She was 97.
Mrs. Schumann and her husband farmed and raised livestock northeast of Powhattan for many years.
The daughter of Samuel Ellsworth and Ellen Pfister Feller, she was born March 21, 1909, on the family farm near Hiawatha. She married George Henry Schumann on April 16, 1933, at Marysville. He died March 18, 1974.
Mrs. Schumann is also survived by two daughters, Suzanne Anderson of Lawrence and Nanci Oswald of rural Hiawatha; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The service to celebrate her life will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church at Hiawatha. Burial will be in Powhattan Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.
