J. Melissa Gilmore

The funeral for Juanita Melissa Rhudy will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Claudia Bakely of the First United Methodist Church will conduct the service. The graveside service will be at 3 p.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery at Independence, Kan. The Rev. Jack Gregory of the First United Methodist Church in Independence will conduct the service.
Memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church in Emporia, where Mrs. Gilmore was a member, may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia.
Mrs. Gilmore, a resident of the Holiday Resort, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. She was 91 years old.
She moved to Emporia from Pleasanton in 2005 and formerly lived in Independence, Kan. She was a homemaker.
The daughter of William Claude and Nannie Eunice Copenhaver Rhudy, she was born Jan. 6, 1916, at Independence, Va. She married Cecil H. Farley Sr., who died in Independence, Kan., in January 1961. She married William C. Gilmore. He died Sept. 9, 2002.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean E. Brockelman of Emporia; a son, Cecil Farley Jr., of The Villages, Fla.; a stepson, William Tracy Gilmore of Taylorsville, Utah; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary George Farley; five brothers, Gene, Thurman, Meek, Carl and Thomas Rhudy; and one sister, Elizabeth Bolze.
