Leland G. “Lee” Coleman

Leland G. “Lee” Coleman, formerly of 2082 Road K, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. He was 85.
Mr. Coleman was a farmer and a Navy veteran of World War II.
The son of Virgil A. and Laura Shoemake Coleman, he was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Houston, Mo. He married Marguerite “Blondie” Rowhuff on May 29, 1943, in Tacoma, Wash. She died June 16, 2003.
Mr. Coleman was a member of the First Congregational Church. He was a member of Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 A.F. & A.m., Topeka Consistory of Scottish Rite, Emporia York Rite Bodies, Topeka Arab Shrine, Emporia Sertoma Club, American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980.
He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Fletcher of Wichita and Jan Gilmore of Glendale, Ariz.; one brother, Harold J. Coleman of Bartlesville, Okla.; and one grandson, James Fletcher of Vancouver, Wash. One granddaughter, Rachel Fletcher, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First Congregational Church. The Rev. Chad Poland will conduct the service. Burial, with services conducted by Ball-McColm Post 5 and Lowry-Funston Post 1980, will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
