Merle Alyson Pribbenow, Waverly

Merle Alyson Pribbenow of Waverly died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia. She was 88.
The funeral is planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at University Friends Church in Wichita. Burial will be in Rose Hill Friends Cemetery, Rose Hill.
She was born Jan. 9, 1919, in Bates County, Mo., the daughter of Lloyd Jamison and Florence “Leota” Lundy Alkire. She grew up in Wichita and graduated from North High School as a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Friends University.
She married William “Ferol” Pribbenow on Dec. 15, 1939, in Wichita. He died June 13, 2001.
Mrs. Pribbenow worked as an administrator at various nursing homes in Kansas and Missouri. She was a member of the Delta Rho sorority at Friends University and the Tri-W Club, both in Wichita.
In Wichita, she was a member of the University Friends Church. Since moving to Waverly in 2000, she had attended Waverly United Methodist Church.
Her survivors include two daughters, Linda Marsh of Waverly and Alice Ostrander of Kasilof, Alaska, and two sons, John Pribbenow of Anchorage and Charles Pribbenow of Soldotna, Alaska. Nine grandchildren and a sister, Zella Boyle of Wichita, also survive.
