Grace Lowder, Allen

Grace Lowder, a longtime resident of Allen, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 99.
The funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Allen United Methodist Church. The Rev. Larry Nabours will officiate. Miriam Chapter No. 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct Eastern Star services. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Lowder taught kindergarten for many years in Osage City. She earned her teaching degree at Emporia State University, where she was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta at Washburn University.
The daughter of Thomas J. and Katie Slusser Hetler, she was born Jan. 2, 1908, in Osage City. She married Lee Loyd Lowder Sr., on June 1, 1930, at home in Osage City. He died May 12, 1991.
She is also survived by two sons, Lee L. Lowder Jr. of Allen and James Lowder of Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Frank Hetler of Sequim, Wash.; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Marjorie Lowder, and a brother, Donald Hetler, also died earlier.
Mrs. Lowder was a member of Allen United Methodist Church, PEO Chapter GT and a founding member of the Polaris Club. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Allen.
