Lela Marie Short, Augusta

Lela Marie Short died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita. She was 81.
Mrs. Short and her husband, Kenneth, lived on farms in Chase and Butler counties. She was a homemaker and a caregiver.
The daughter of Arthur and Della Daharsh, she was born Feb. 24, 1925, in the Americus area. She married Kenneth Short of rural Emporia on May 18, 1946, at Emporia. He died earlier.
Mrs. Short is survived by one daughter, Jo Dinkins of Olathe; one son, Jim Short of Augusta; one sister, Eilene Prockish of Manhattan; one brother, Floyd Daharsh of Hugoton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A twin sister, Lola, and an infant grandson died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home at Augusta. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery at Augusta. The family will meet friends at 10 a.m. Thursday before service time.
Memorial contributions to the Cumberland Community Church Building Fund or the American Lung Association may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 E. Fifth Ave., Augusta, KS 67010.
