Everett D. Wessel Jr., Wichita
Emporia native Everett D. Wessel Jr. died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at his home in Wichita. He was 74.
Mr. Wessel taught physical education and was a coach at several high schools in Wichita before he retired. He was a Navy veteran.
He was born Nov. 29, 1932, at Emporia. He graduated from Toledo Township High School in 1951.
Mr. Wessel is survived by his wife, Phyllis Wessel; two sons, Todd Wessel and Darryn Wessel, both of Wichita; one daughter, Shannon of Whitesboro, Texas; one brother, Glen Dale Wessel of Emporia; two sisters, Doris Selves of Emporia and Lois Ann Hesterlee of Granbury, Texas; and six grandchildren. A son, Everett D. Wessell III, died in 1965.The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cochran Mortuary.
