Edward Wayne Frederiksen, Council Grove

The funeral for Edward Wayne Frederiksen of rural Council Grove will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Americus United Methodist Church at Americus. The Rev. Bud Tuxhorn of the church will conduct the service. Burial, with services conducted by American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980, will be in Americus Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions to the Americus United Methodist Church may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Frederiksen died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at his home. He was 83.
He was a longtime farmer. He was an Army veteran, having served in the 34th Infantry, Company K.
The son of Carl Joseph and Mary A. Boosinger Frederiksen, he was born Sept. 3, 1923, at Allen. He married Martha Jean Williams on June 6, 1948, at Salina. She survives.
Mr. Frederiksen was a member of Bushong United Methodist Church. He also was a member of American Legion Post 389 at Allen.
He is survived by three sons, David Frederiksen of Osage City, Joseph Frederiksen of Louisa, Va., and Edward Frederiksen Jr., of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A daughter, Barbara Jean Frederiksen, died at birth. A brother, Arvil Frederiksen, died earlier.
